Dr. Alejandro “Alex” Cavazos

Dr. Cavazos has a very well-known and respected dental reputation throughout San Antonio. He has been providing quality comprehensive dental care in the community for over 12 years. He is a native of Brownsville, Texas and graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in music. Dr. Cavazos taught high school science and coached high school sports before his career in dentistry. In 2006, he attended the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School and graduated in 2010. Dr. Cavazos then furthered his training by completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program from 2010-2011, earning the Resident of the Year award.

Dr. Cavazos earned the distinct honor of Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2016, an achievement reached by less than 6% of all general dentists in the United States and Canada. He is currently enrolled in comprehensive advanced education courses through the Pankey Institute in Florida. For 5 decades, the Pankey Institute has trained and mentored the future of dentistry with a commitment to excellence.

When not practicing Dentistry, he and his wife enjoy spending time with their three children, Cyanna, Cameryn, and Cason. They enjoy camping, fishing, being outdoors and supporting their children in all their “kid” activities.

Dr. Cavazos and his caring team are here to take care of your needs and answer your questions. He will take deep consideration of recommended treatment, and discover with you the optimal level of dental health that fits into your current life situation.

I’m an FAGD dentist! What does that mean for you and your family?

FAGD stands for Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Earning Fellowship takes dedication to dental continuing education (CE) beyond graduation. Only about 6 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Fellows. When you see a dentist with FAGD after their name, you can rest assured that they care about knowing the latest techniques and best practices in dentistry. AGD Fellows practice these techniques in a classroom setting multiple times a year — not every dentist does this.

To become an AGD Fellow, a dentist must:

  • Complete over 500 credit hours of CE.
  • Earn 350 of those 500 credits in live courses.
  • Pass an exam equal in difficulty to board certification exams.
